NORCET 11 Mains Result Analysis: Category-Wise and Cut Off

10,613 candidates qualified in NORCET 11 Mains, down 24% from NORCET 10's 13,963. The cut off percentages did not move. The number of people clearing them did.

A stable threshold with a quarter fewer qualifiers points to a harder paper rather than any change in the rules.

Every figure below comes from parsing all 10,613 rows of the official result list published with Notification 287/2026.

NORCET 11 Mains Result 2026 at a Glance

  • Total qualified: 10,613 (UR 1,842, EWS 1,210, OBC 4,676, SC 2,073, ST 812)
  • Gender split: 7,461 female, 3,152 male, 23 PwBD, Third Gender Nil
  • All India Rank 1: Roll No. 4162643, OBC male, 82.917% (132.7 of 160)
  • Official cut off: UR and EWS 50.000%, OBC 45.000%, SC and ST 40.000%
  • Official PwBD cut off: UR-PwBD 45.417%, EWS-PwBD 52.917%, OBC-PwBD 41.042%, SC-PwBD 37.708%, ST-PwBD Nil. Not a flat 5% relaxation.
  • Safe score at the vacancy line: about 99 marks overall, 101.7 for male and 98 for female candidates under the 80:20 rule
  • Ranks are unique: no two of the 10,613 candidates share a rank

AIIMS has not published how many candidates actually sat Stage II, so there is no official qualification rate. What is known is the size of the pool: 12,638 candidates were called for the Mains after the Stage I result of 18 September 2026. Against 10,613 qualifiers that is a qualification rate of at least 84%, and higher if any of the 12,638 did not turn up.

That sounds generous until you remember what it means. The Mains barely filters anyone. The filtering happens at rank, not at the cut off: 10,613 qualify and roughly 2,218 get posts. Clearing Stage II is close to expected. Placing inside the top 2,218 is the real contest.

NORCET 11 Category-Wise Qualified Candidates: UR, EWS, OBC, SC and ST

CategoryMaleFemaleTotalShare
UR5021,3401,84217.4%
EWS3418691,21011.4%

SC6361,4372,07319.5%
ST1896238127.7%
Total3,1527,46110,613100%

23 of these qualified under PwBD categories: 11 UR, 1 EWS, 9 OBC and 2 SC. No ST-PwBD candidate qualified, which is why the ST-PwBD cut off was declared Nil.

The notification also carries a Third Gender column. It is Nil in every category, so no third gender candidate qualified in NORCET 11 Stage II.

Source: AIIMS Result Notification 287/2026, page 227.

OBC accounts for 44% of all qualifiers, more than UR and EWS combined. That is a larger share than the OBC vacancy reservation, which means OBC candidates are competing hardest against each other.

NORCET 11 Gender-Wise Qualified and the 80:20 Seat Rule

QualifiedShare
Female7,46170.3%
Male3,15229.7%

NORCET reserves 80% of posts for female candidates and 20% for male candidates. The 70 to 30 split in the qualified list follows directly from that, so it is not an anomaly in this year's result.

Where it does change things is your own odds. Splitting the reported 2,218 vacancies 80:20 gives roughly 1,774 posts for women and 444 for men:

QualifiedPosts (approx)Qualified per postLine at the vacancy count
Female7,461~1,7744.261.250% = 98 marks
Male3,152~4447.163.542% = 101.7 marks

A male candidate faces roughly 70% more competition per post than a female candidate, and needs about 4 more marks to sit in the equivalent position. If you are a male candidate, the single 99 mark safe score quoted in most places is too low for you.

The qualifying percentages are fixed thresholds, not a function of how candidates performed, so they rarely move between cycles. The PwBD figures do move, because they are set from the PwBD pool in that cycle.

Note the EWS-PwBD cut off of 52.917%, higher than the general UR cut off of 50%. That happens when very few PwBD candidates in a category clear the bar, so the threshold lands wherever the small pool sits.

How Many Qualified Candidates Are There Per Vacancy?

CycleQualifiedVacanciesRatio
NORCET 1110,613about 2,2184.8 : 1
NORCET 1013,963about 2,7795.0 : 1

On the headline ratio, NORCET 11 candidates face slightly better odds than NORCET 10 did. Split by gender, the two groups separate: 4.2 : 1 for female candidates, 7.1 : 1 for male candidates.

Who Topped NORCET 11 Mains? AIR 1 and the Top 10

The official PDF lists roll numbers. We have left those out and published marks, category and gender instead:

979.375%127.0OBCFemale
1079.375%127.0OBCFemale

The all India topper is Roll No. 4162643, an OBC male candidate at 82.917%, which is 132.7 marks out of 160. Only one candidate reached that score, and only 7 candidates in the entire result crossed 80%.

We arrived at that roll number by sorting the official list ourselves, independently of other portals reporting the same number. Both agree.

What the NORCET 11 Top 100 Looks Like by Category and Gender

The top 100 tells you more about this paper than the rank 1 score does:

Top 100Full qualified list
OBC5044.1%
UR3617.4%
EWS811.4%
SC519.5%
ST17.7%
Female6970.3%
Male3129.7%

UR candidates are twice as concentrated at the top as in the list overall: 36% of the top 100 against 17% of all qualifiers. SC and ST candidates are under-represented at the very top relative to their share of qualifiers.

The gender mix at the top, 69 to 31, tracks the overall 70 to 30 split almost exactly. On this paper there is no performance gap by gender among the highest scorers.

For scale: only 52 candidates scored 120 marks or more, and 296 crossed 70%.

One more thing we checked that nobody else has published: no two candidates share a rank. Across all 10,613 entries every rank from 1 to 10,613 is held by exactly one person, even where scores are identical. Several candidates scored the same percentage, for example three at 78.542%, and AIIMS still separated them. A tie in marks does not produce a tie in rank, so your NORCET Rank is always a single unambiguous number.

What the NORCET 11 Result Means for Seat Allotment

10,613 qualified against roughly 2,218 posts means about 1 in 5 qualifiers will get a posting. Allotment runs on NORCET Rank through online choice filling, so your rank and your preference order decide the outcome from here.

Four Things Being Reported Wrong About the NORCET 11 Result

Result day coverage moves fast and several widely repeated details do not match the notification. Checked line by line against Notification 287/2026:

1. The PwBD cut offs are not a flat 5% relaxation. Several sources state UR-PwBD 45%, OBC-PwBD 40% and SC/ST-PwBD 35%, derived by subtracting 5 from the general figures. The notification does not work that way. The actual PwBD cut offs are UR-PwBD 45.417%, EWS-PwBD 52.917%, OBC-PwBD 41.042%, SC-PwBD 37.708% and ST-PwBD Nil. Note that EWS-PwBD at 52.917% is higher than the general UR cut off of 50%, which a relaxation rule could never produce. These are set by where the small PwBD pool actually landed, not by a formula.

2. It is a percentage, not a percentile. The column in the official PDF is headed Percentage. A score of 82.917% means 132.7 marks out of 160. It does not mean the candidate beat 82.917% of the field. Calling it a percentile understates the topper badly, because rank 1 out of 10,613 is around the 99.99th percentile.

3. The result is dated 9 October and was reported on 10 October. Notification 287/2026 carries Dated: 09th October, 2026 on its first page. Most coverage says the result was released on 10 October, which is when it appeared on the portal and when reporting picked it up. Both are defensible. The notification date is 9 October.

4. The category-wise breakdown is not missing. Several sources state that AIIMS has not published a category-wise split of the 10,613. It is published, on page 227 of the notification, as a combined gender and category table. That is the table reproduced near the top of this page.

Method and Sources

Every figure on this page comes from the official NORCET 11 Stage II result list published by AIIMS with Notification 287/2026 dated 9 October 2026. We parsed all 10,613 rows and checked our category and gender totals against the summary table AIIMS published in the same notification. They match exactly. Individual scores for every candidate, including those who did not qualify, can be viewed in MyPage on aiimsexams.ac.in after logging in with Candidate ID and Password, which is the wording the notification uses. Vacancy figures are as reported elsewhere and are not part of the result notification. The result is provisional and subject to verification of candidature and institute-specific eligibility.
