NORCET 11 Choice Filling and Seat Allotment: Dates & Process
Choice filling runs 30 October to 6 November 2026, 5:00 PM deadline. Allotment is on NORCET Rank. How to order your preferences before the window opens.

Clearing the NORCET 11 Mains does not decide where you work. Choice filling does.
Your rank determines your position in the queue. The preferences you submit determine which institutes you are considered for as that queue is worked through. Get the order wrong and a good rank can still land you somewhere you did not want.
The dates are now confirmed. AIIMS will publish the seat position and allotment procedure on 30 October 2026, and online choice filling runs from 30 October to 6 November 2026 up to 5:00 PM. Allocation is on the basis of NORCET Rank.
This page explains how the stage works and what to decide before the window opens.

How Did Choice Filling Work in NORCET 10?
The NORCET 10 cycle gives the closest guide available:
| Stage | NORCET 10 |
|---|---|
| Seat allotment published | 14 June 2026 |
| Acceptance deadline | 24 June 2026 |
| Merit prepared from | Stage II (Mains) performance only |
| Allotment rounds | One round |
| Joining | Mandatory |
Three things in that table deserve attention.
Merit came from Stage II only. The Prelims was purely qualifying. Your Mains score is what ranks you.
There was one round. Not a multi-round counselling process with upgrades. This is why preference order carries so much weight: there may be no second pass to correct a careless list.
Joining was mandatory. Accepting an allotted seat and then declining to join has consequences set out in the notice. Treat your preference list as a list of places you would genuinely go.
These are NORCET 10 details. Confirm the NORCET 11 rules against the official notice when it is published.
How Should I Decide My NORCET 11 Preference Order?
Work through four questions before the window opens:
1. Where would you actually move? An institute you would decline does not belong on the list, or belongs at the bottom. A preference order filled on autopilot is how people end up accepting postings they then resent.
2. AIIMS New Delhi or a newer AIIMS? Workload, patient volume, departmental depth and exposure differ substantially. Larger and older institutes typically offer more specialisation exposure and more competition for it.
3. Location and cost of living. Your pay level is the same across institutes. Rent and HRA slab are not, so the same salary stretches very differently by city. Our salary breakdown covers how that works.
4. Family, transfers and the long view. A nursing officer post is a career position. The institute you start at shapes the next several years.
What Are the Common NORCET Choice Filling Mistakes?
- Filling preferences in the order the list is displayed. The default order is not a recommendation.
- Listing only one or two institutes. A short list on a mid-range rank risks no allotment at all.
- Including institutes you would refuse. If joining is mandatory, a refusal has consequences.
- Waiting until the deadline. Portals slow under load at the close of any window.
- Not saving confirmation. Keep the submitted preference list and acknowledgement.
After Allotment
Once a seat is allotted:
- Accept within the stated window. NORCET 10 gave ten days between allotment and the acceptance deadline.
- Attend document verification with originals and copies. See the document checklist.
- Complete the medical examination.
- Receive the offer of appointment and complete joining formalities.
- If currently employed, serve notice and collect relieving documents in good time.
If You Are Waitlisted
A waitlist is not a rejection. It moves as selected candidates withdraw, take other offers or fail verification. Keep documents ready and watch the portal. Movement can continue for weeks after the initial list.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is choice filling in NORCET? It is the stage where qualified candidates rank the participating institutes in order of preference. Allotment is then processed against merit rank and those preferences.
How is the seat allotment decided? By merit rank within your category, applied against your stated preferences and the vacancies available at each institute.
How many rounds of allotment are there? NORCET 10 ran a single round. Confirm the NORCET 11 process against the official notice.
Is joining mandatory after allotment? The NORCET 10 notice stated that joining was mandatory. Check the NORCET 11 notice for the applicable condition before accepting.
Can I change my preferences after submitting? Only if the portal permits editing within the open window. Once the window closes, the submitted order stands.
