Her brother told her about Himmat Sir's classes after a failed first attempt. She watched every back-catalogue lecture she could find and analysed her right answers as hard as her wrong ones.

NORCET 11 AIR 248: Suman Sahu Gave 334 Tests

Quick answer: Suman Sahu secured All India Rank 248 in NORCET 11 Mains 2026 on her second attempt, from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. In NORCET 10 she placed around rank 2700, missing out by one mark. She passed out in July 2025, studied 10 to 12 hours a day, gave 334 tests and solved 13,000+ questions.

One mark, and a brother with a recommendation

She passed out in July 2025 and started preparing immediately. The problem with that first attempt is one she states plainly: she did not know NPrep existed.

In NORCET 10 my rank was 2700. It did not happen, by one mark.

What changed was not a system. It was a recommendation. Her brother told her Himmat Sir took very good classes.

From there she did something most candidates do not think to do: she went through the back catalogue. Not just the current cycle's lectures, but every Himmat Sir lecture she could find on YouTube from NORCET 8 and NORCET 9 as well, searching them out and watching the full videos.

The material from two exams ago is still the same nursing.

The four-block day

Her daily structure is the most evenly distributed in this set, and it ran 10 to 12 hours from start to finish of her preparation:

BlockActivity
MorningTheory, and revision of theory
AfternoonOne daily test
EveningClasses
NightQuestions

Four distinct modes, each with its own slot. Nothing competing with anything else.

I prepared with full focus.

Analysing the right answers too

This is the habit worth stealing from her, and only one other topper in this cohort names it independently.

After completing the test I analysed what went wrong, and also what went right.

Her reason is specific and product-grounded: in the test series the important points are specified and highlighted, so the rationale on a question you got correct still contains material you have not met.

Wakeel Wasil at AIR 22 names skipping explanations on correct answers as the single mistake he personally made. Suman simply never made it.

She kept a notebook of those points and revised it repeatedly. Asked how much it helped in the exam, her answer was that it was very beneficial and that many questions came from the test series — especially from Nashta.

Images and audio, for the things text could not fix

Two features she names for a specific reason rather than in general praise.

Image-based questions (IBQ). Where theory was not landing, the image made it land:

If I could not understand from the theory, I would look at the image and understand it completely.

Audio explanations. Same principle, different channel:

Many things I could not understand by reading, I understood by listening to the audio.

Sabha at AIR 135 used the same two features, though for a different problem — she used them to beat boredom rather than comprehension. Same tools, two distinct failure modes.

What the classes actually gave her

Her account of the Gold series is unusually concrete about the mechanism:

  • Concepts got clear, rather than facts getting listed
  • Direct questions came from what Himmat Sir had taught — many of them
  • New concepts were learned, and old concepts got stronger

That last pair is the part people underrate. A good class does not only add new material; it firms up what you half-knew.

Her advice: both, always, topic-wise

Asked what to tell aspirants whose first or second attempt has not worked:

Theory plus MCQ — both are very necessary. I kept both as part of my preparation permanently.

And on sequencing, she comes down clearly on topic-wise:

Doing it topic-wise is more beneficial. After reading one topic we do its MCQs, so interest comes in studying and confidence also increases. Concept clarity keeps happening.

Note the reason she gives. Not efficiency — interest and confidence. Reading a topic then immediately proving to yourself that you can answer on it is a motivational loop as much as a learning one.

What to take from AIR 248

  1. Missing by one mark means the gap is tactical. Rank 2700 to 248 in one cycle.
  2. Mine the back catalogue. Lectures from two exams ago still teach the same nursing.
  3. Give the day four distinct blocks so theory, tests, classes and questions never compete.
  4. Analyse the questions you got right. The highlighted points are free marks.
  5. Do MCQs topic by topic, for the confidence loop as much as the learning.

Frequently asked questions

What rank did Suman Sahu get in NORCET 11? All India Rank 248 in NORCET 11 Mains 2026, on her second attempt, after placing around rank 2700 in NORCET 10.

How many tests and questions did she do? 334 tests and more than 13,000 questions, studying 10 to 12 hours a day.

Should you analyse NORCET questions you answered correctly? Yes. She analysed both right and wrong answers, because the important points in the test series rationales are highlighted and contain material beyond the question itself.

How should you structure a NORCET study day? Her day had four blocks: theory and revision in the morning, one daily test in the afternoon, classes in the evening, and questions at night.

Should you do NORCET MCQs topic-wise or after finishing the syllabus? Topic-wise. She found that doing a topic's MCQs immediately after reading it builds interest and confidence and keeps concept clarity improving.
