NORCET 11 AIR 226: From AIIMS Student to Nursing Officer
She watched nursing officers work every day during her BSc at AIIMS Kalyani. First attempt, AIR 226, and now she goes back in uniform.

Quick answer: Nandini Gurjar secured All India Rank 226 in NORCET 11 Mains 2026 on her first attempt. From Rajasthan, she qualified BSc Nursing Honours at AIIMS Kalyani in April 2026 and cleared NORCET in the same year she passed out. She gave 89 tests on the app, and her Nashta ranks — which ran between 1 and 250 — landed almost exactly on her real result.
The inspiration was the building she studied in
She did not find NORCET through an advertisement. She found it by watching people do the job.
I used to see nursing officers working every day. That itself was an inspiration.
Her framing is that if you study at AIIMS, you decide you want to work there. Nobody wants to miss out on that.
After four years she describes a genuine dilemma about what to do next, resolved by settling on NORCET. Pass out April 2026, cleared the same year.
Asleep when the result came
A small, very relatable detail. Expecting a 6 to 7pm release, she went to sleep rather than take the tension.
What woke her was a rush of WhatsApp messages. The first, she says, was from NPrep.
With the official site crashing under load, she could not check her own rank, so she asked her brother to do it — and only believed 226 once he confirmed it. Her father lifted her up. She saw tears in their eyes.
The website-crash problem is common enough on result day that it is worth planning for: have someone else ready to check.
The gap nobody warns you about
Her sharpest contribution is naming the specific problem that hits between the two stages.
After clearing Prelims, you have knowledge but no way to gather it.
She calls this the most confusing part of the journey, and she is right that it is under-discussed. The Prelims and Mains reward different things:
The approach for Mains differs from the approach for Prelims.
The Mentorship Program is what solved it for her, because it supplied what to do and how at exactly the point where she had material but no structure for it.
Her one regret is wishing she had joined earlier for the whole journey rather than only the Mains phase.
Nashta as a confidence mechanism, not just a test
She gave 89 tests on the app. What she took from them was psychological as much as academic:
Seeing my own rank made me confident that I could do it. That it was not impossible for me. That I could manage under pressure.
She calls it a game changer and an instant boost, which fed motivation, which fed more study.
And the prediction was remarkably tight:
| Rank | |
|---|---|
| Nashta range | 1 to 250 |
| Rank predictor estimate | ~280 to 300 |
| Actual NORCET 11 Mains | 226 |
Both practice signals bracketed the real outcome. This matches Soniya at AIR 91, whose Nashta rank of 81 preceded a real 91, and Muzzamil Ahmad at AIR 19, who stayed under 50 and finished at 19.
If you are taking full-length tests honestly, your mock rank is a forecast, not a mood.
Why she rates the analysis above the questions
Her strongest praise is not for the content:
I bet no one can match that analysis.
What she values is that it teaches how to approach a question, and how to recognise that question if it appears again — a transferable skill rather than a fact.
She also singles out the pictograms, specifically that you can stick them on a wall and study from them.
Her argument against books
A clear-eyed point about why static material decays:
Books carry things that were asked before but are not asked now.
Her claim is that NPrep builds on the concept to generate the questions that could come next, rather than preserving the questions that already came. For an exam that has visibly shifted toward scenarios, that distinction matters.
Her advice: the kind of question, not the number
Against a cohort where several toppers quote enormous question counts, hers is a useful counterweight:
Focus on the kind of question, not the amount. However many you do does not matter. The concepts behind them do.
For those starting out, she adds: make up your theory and follow good content, because good concepts mean the tests stop being a problem.
She also used the update shorts on YouTube and classes from Aman Sir and Kirti Ma'am.
What to take from AIR 226
- If you study at an AIIMS, the job is visible. Use that.
- The post-Prelims gap is real. Plan for a different Mains approach rather than more of the same.
- Have someone else ready to check your result. The site will crash.
- Treat your mock rank as a forecast.
- Question quality over question count. The concept behind it is the asset.
Frequently asked questions
What rank did Nandini Gurjar get in NORCET 11? All India Rank 226 in NORCET 11 Mains 2026, on her first attempt, the same year she passed out of AIIMS Kalyani.
Is the NORCET Mains approach different from Prelims? Yes. She describes the period after clearing Prelims as the most confusing part of the journey, because you have knowledge but no structure for it, and the approach required for Mains differs from Prelims.
Does your mock test rank predict your real NORCET rank? In her case closely. Her Nashta ranks ranged between 1 and 250 and the rank predictor estimated 280 to 300. Her actual result was AIR 226.
How many tests did she give? 89 tests on the NPrep app.
Is it better to do more questions or better questions for NORCET? Her position is the kind of question, not the amount: however many you do does not matter as much as the concepts behind them.
