NORCET 11 AIR 91: Soniya's Mock Rank of 81 Predicted Her Real Rank
26,000 questions at 75% accuracy, started during her internship, and a Nashta rank just before the Prelims that turned out to be a forecast.

Quick answer: Soniya secured All India Rank 91 in NORCET 11 Mains 2026 on her first attempt, from Punjab. She started her nursing course in 2022, passed out in 2026, and practised around 26,000 questions at 75% accuracy with more than 1,000 hours of video. In the Nashta test held just before the Prelims she ranked 81. Her actual result was 91.
The rank that turned out to be a forecast
She describes actively waiting for each Nashta test to be released, and never once skipping one.
Her ranks typically sat around 200. Then, in the Nashta held just before the Prelims:
| Rank | |
|---|---|
| Typical Nashta rank | ~200 |
| Nashta just before Prelims | 81 |
| Actual NORCET 11 Mains | 91 |
She says she was shocked that the 81 was really hers. She describes it afterwards as having become a kind of prediction — and it motivated her considerably.
This is the clearest instance of a pattern that repeats across this cohort. Muzzamil Ahmad at AIR 19 stayed under 50 and finished at 19. Nandini Gurjar at AIR 226 ranged 1 to 250 and finished at 226.
If you are taking full-length tests under honest conditions, the rank column is information about your outcome, not a mood.
Starting during the internship
The opening she spotted:
An internship is clinical work with no theory attached. That left room to study alongside.
She began in the eighth semester, during the internship — and she is honest that shifts limited how much she could do, so she used whatever time she got rather than holding to a fixed quota.
What she did before studying is the part worth copying. She looked at which of her own areas were weak and which topics NORCET actually prioritises, then concentrated on OBG and MSN accordingly. Diagnosis before effort.
The numbers, with accuracy attached
| Questions practised | ~26,000 |
| Accuracy | 75% |
| Video watch time | 1,000+ hours (Gold Plus) |
The accuracy figure matters as much as the volume, and most candidates quote only the first. Her sequence was: watch videos, clear topics, then give mocks — in that order.
Learning elimination as a skill
Beyond the image-based explanations, she highlighted the audio explanations where the faculty talks through a question.
What she took from them was not the answer:
I watched how ma'am eliminated options. Why the others were wrong and why this one was right.
She confirms the elimination technique was very useful in the main exam, and that she learned it from NPrep.
This is the same capability Sheetal at AIR 119 credits for three or four extra correct answers per paper. On a four-option paper where two choices are defensible, elimination is the whole skill.
The weak subject she turned around
Her toughest: Pharmacology. She says plainly she did not like it at all.
Her strongest: OBG, clear since college because it was taught well there.
What she did: covered MSN and Community as well, on the basis that these are the main subjects NORCET draws from, and focused her effort there. For Pharmacology specifically, she watched the drug videos repeatedly, including once or twice more just before the Mains.
Note she did not try to fall in love with pharmacology. She just watched the same videos more times.
Her advice
The first attempt is the best attempt. Set the mindset of clearing it first time, because that is the best one you will get.
Cover the scariest subject first. Identify the subject you find toughest and cover it first — because that is the one that frightens you, and therefore the one you will otherwise leave until the end.
Theory plus questions. Study, then practise questions, because volume of practice is what teaches you to read a question correctly.
Reduce self-doubt. She was explicit that candidates should cut down the doubt they carry about themselves, having had a great deal of it herself — the same obstacle Nandini Verma at AIR 288 names as her single biggest.
What to take from AIR 91
- Your mock rank is a forecast. Treat it as data.
- Diagnose before you study. Weak areas crossed with what the exam prioritises.
- Quote accuracy alongside volume, or the volume means little.
- Learn elimination deliberately by watching someone do it aloud.
- Do the scariest subject first, or it will sit untouched until there is no time.
Frequently asked questions
What rank did Soniya get in NORCET 11? All India Rank 91 in NORCET 11 Mains 2026, on her first attempt.
Can a mock test rank predict your real NORCET rank? In her case it did. Her Nashta ranks usually sat around 200, but she ranked 81 in the test just before the Prelims and finished with an actual rank of 91.

How do you learn the elimination technique for NORCET? She used NPrep's audio explanations, where faculty talk through a question aloud — watching how options were eliminated and why each wrong option failed, rather than just noting the answer.
Which subject should you study first for NORCET? Her advice is the one you find scariest, because that is the subject you will otherwise leave until the end when there is no time left for it.
