NORCET Cut-off: Category-wise Trend, NORCET 8 to 11 | NPrep

The NORCET cut-off has two parts. Stage I (Prelims) uses a percentile cut-off that changes every cycle: in NORCET 11 it was 95.1589 percentile for UR, 86.9063 for OBC, 84.1941 for SC, 82.2408 for EWS and 79.7052 for ST. Stage II (Mains) uses fixed qualifying marks: 50% for UR and EWS, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC and ST.

Updated 29 October 2026. Every figure below is taken from AIIMS result notifications on aiimsexams.ac.in, with the notification number beside it.

How has the NORCET Prelims cut-off changed?

The UR cut-off has stayed above 90 percentile in every two-stage cycle, and it rose in every category from NORCET 10 to NORCET 11.

PwBD candidates have a separate, much lower Stage I cut-off:

The NORCET 11 EWS-PwBD figure (91.0291258) is printed as it appears in Result Notification 276/2026, where it sits above the general EWS cut-off.

Why is the NORCET Prelims cut-off a percentile?

Stage I only decides who moves on, so AIIMS ranks candidates by percentile rather than raw marks. A percentile places you against everyone who took the same paper: at 95 percentile, you scored higher than about 95% of test-takers.

The minimum qualifying percentile is low (50 for UR), but crossing it is not enough. Notice 103/2026 calls only 5 times the seats in each category to Stage II. That is why the real cut-off sits far above the minimum. In NORCET 11, 55,967 candidates crossed the qualifying percentile, but only 12,638 were called to Stage II.

What are the NORCET Mains qualifying marks?

Stage II has no moving cut-off. You qualify if you reach a fixed percentage of the 160 marks, and your Stage II marks alone decide your All India Rank.

Qualifying Stage II makes you eligible for seat allocation. Whether you get a seat depends on your rank, your category, your choices and the seats available. See NORCET marks vs rank for the percentage each rank needed.

What score is safe for each category?

A "safe" Stage I score is one that clears your category's recent cut-off with a margin. Over the last four cycles, the UR cut-off ranged from 90.72 to 95.16 percentile, OBC from 75.95 to 86.91, SC from 73.44 to 84.19, EWS from 65.62 to 82.24 and ST from 66.32 to 79.71. Aim above the top of your category's range. Our NORCET safe score guide turns these into practice targets.

What will the NORCET 12 cut-off be?

This is a projection, not an AIIMS figure. The April cycles (NORCET 8 and 10) both closed near 93.6 percentile for UR, while the September cycles moved between 90.7 and 95.2. If NORCET 12 has a similar number of seats and applicants, the UR cut-off is likely to fall inside the 90.7 to 95.2 range seen since NORCET 8. AIIMS will publish the actual cut-off with the Stage I result, scheduled for 21 April 2027.

FAQs

What was the NORCET 11 cut-off for UR?

The NORCET 11 Stage I cut-off for UR was 95.1589222 percentile, as published in AIIMS Result Notification 276/2026 dated 18 September 2026. UR candidates also needed 50% in Stage II to qualify for seat allocation.

Is the NORCET Mains cut-off a percentile or a percentage?

It is a percentage. Stage II qualifying marks are fixed at 50% for UR and EWS, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC and ST, with 5% lower for PwBD candidates. Only Stage I uses a percentile cut-off.

Why is the Prelims cut-off so much higher than 50 percentile?

AIIMS calls only 5 times the seats in each category to Stage II. In NORCET 11, 55,967 candidates crossed the minimum percentile but only 12,638 were called, so the effective cut-off rose to 95.16 percentile for UR.

Does the Prelims score count in the final NORCET rank?

No. Notice 103/2026 says Stage I will not be used for deciding merit. Your rank comes from Stage II marks. Stage I marks are only used to break ties, after the number of wrong answers in Stage II.

When will the NORCET 12 cut-off be released?

AIIMS has scheduled the NORCET 12 Stage I result for 21 April 2027 and the Stage II result for 11 May 2027, according to its 2027 exam calendar. The cut-off is published with each result.
