What Documents Do I Need for the NORCET Application?

A Complete Checklist

You've decided to pursue your dream of becoming a Nursing Officer. You've checked the NORCET Eligibility Criteria (Are you eligible for NORCET? A simple checklist for age, education & experience) and you're ready to apply.

But then comes the most crucial—and often confusing—part: arranging and uploading the correct documents.

Every year, thousands of applications are rejected due to simple errors—an incorrect photo background, a smudged thumb impression, or an outdated certificate. Don't let your hard work be derailed by a preventable mistake.

To make your application process smooth and stress-free, we've created the ultimate checklist of every document you'll need for the NORCET 2025 application.

Once your documents are ready, follow our Step-by-Step Guide to the NORCET Application Process (NORCET 2025 Application Process: A Step-by-Step Guide to Register Now) to fill out the form with the exact specifications required by AIIMS.

You can cross-reference these requirements with the latest official notification on the AIIMS Exams website.

The Ultimate NORCET Application Document Checklist

Before you even open the application portal, gather and scan these documents.

1. Your Photograph

This is the most common reason for rejection. Pay close attention to the specs.

  • Type: A recent, high-quality passport-sized photograph.
  • Background: Must be pure white. Not off-white, grey, or any other color.
  • Details: Your face should be clear, with both ears visible. No caps, masks, or dark glasses.
  • Format: Scanned copy in .jpeg/.jpg/.gif/.png format.

2. Your Signature

Your signature must be clear and professionally done.

  • Method: Sign with a black or blue ink pen on a clean, white sheet of paper.
  • Style: Do not use all capital letters. Sign as you would on official documents.
  • Format: Scanned copy, ensuring only the signature area is cropped and uploaded.

3. Your Left Thumb Impression

This is another critical identity verification document.

  • Method: Use a fresh blue/black ink pad.
  • Application: Press your left thumb firmly but gently on a white sheet of paper to get a clear, non-smudged impression.
  • Format: Scan the impression clearly.

THE INSIDER'S WARNING

  • "We've seen students upload a selfie or a photo with a colored background, which leads to instant rejection. Go to a professional photo studio and specifically ask for a photo with a plain white background for a government exam. It's worth the small investment."
  • "For the thumb impression, don't roll your thumb. Just press it down flat. Rolling causes smudges and blurs the unique lines, which can lead to rejection. Practice once or twice on a rough sheet before making the final impression for scanning."

4. Educational and Professional Certificates

Have these ready to enter your marks and for potential upload if required.

  • Class 10th Mark Sheet/Certificate (for Date of Birth verification)
  • Class 12th Mark Sheet (Optional)
  • GNM Diploma/B.Sc. Nursing/Post-Basic B.Sc. Degree Certificate
  • Mark Sheets for all years of GNM/B.Sc. Nursing
  • Valid Nursing Council Registration Certificate (State or Indian Nursing Council)
  • Experience Certificate(s) (for GNM candidates only), clearly stating the hospital's name, your tenure, and the bed capacity (must be 50+ beds)

5. Category Certificate (If Applicable)

If you are applying for a reserved seat, your certificate must be valid and in the correct format.

  • SC/ST/EWS Certificate: Must be in the prescribed format.
  • OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate: This is crucial. It must be a Central List certificate, valid for central government posts. State-level OBC certificates are not accepted.

THE CERTIFICATE TRAP

  • "The biggest trap for OBC candidates is the 'date of issue'. The official NORCET notification will specify a date range within which your OBC-NCL certificate must have been issued. An older certificate, even if it's in the central format, will be rejected during document verification. Check this date carefully and get a new certificate made if needed."

Checklist Complete? You're Ready to Prepare!

Congratulations! By preparing these documents in advance, you've eliminated the biggest source of stress from the application process.

Now that the administrative part is handled, you can focus 100% on the real challenge: the preparation.

Getting your documents right gets you to the exam hall; a smart study plan gets you the rank.
