Primary effect of cold application?

Explanation

The application of cold to the body's tissues causes local blood vessels to narrow, a process known as vasoconstriction.
This is the primary and initial response, mediated by the sympathetic nervous system.
The therapeutic goals of this effect are to reduce blood flow, which in turn decreases swelling, inflammation, bleeding, and pain at an injury site.
